A magnet or magic? Explore various topics on the wonders of science. Heat things up with friction, make a rainbow from light, and develop a periscope to see above and beyond. All classes include a take-home item. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Mad Science Fees: $165(R) $195(N) (8 classes) 116512 Mon Sep 17–Nov 5 5–6 p.m. Let's Build Robots— Freshman Robotics (age 5–14) Collaborate with your teammates to prepare an infrared wireless robot for a variety of activity-based challenges. Each build will be followed by a thrilling challenge that illustrates the need for simplicity, and the pitfalls of complexity. Ages will be split by grades. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: American Robotics Academy Fees: $229(R) $259(N) (8 classes) 116501 Tue Sep 4–Oct 23 6:30–7:45 p.m. Let's Build Robots— Pirate with a Purpose (age 5–14) Design robots ready for adventure and excitement! Search for hidden treasure, protect your gold, and steal others' prized possessions. Maneuverable robots will be tested as they race against the clock and other pirates. Variations of Capture the Flag, Race Against Time, Obstacle/ Maneuverability Courses, and Pirate Wars will be played, all with a robotic spin. Ages will be split by grades. Language Telugu Language Class for New Students (age 5–17) This class is for elementary, middle, and high school students who want to learn the Telugu language. The goal is to prepare students to read, write, and speak Telugu Language. Location: Cary Arts Center Instructor: Team Teaching Fees: $123(R) $153(N) (33 classes) 116248 Sun Sep 9–May 19 3:30- 5:30 p.m. Telugu Language Continuing (age 5–17) This course is for students previously enrolled in Telugu Language class at the Cary Arts Center. New students should enroll in the Telugu Language Beginners class. Location: Cary Arts Center Instructor: Team Teaching Fees: $123(R) $153(N) (33 classes) 116251 Sun Sep 9–May 19 3:30- 5:30 p.m. Pet Education Dog Obedience 101 (age 16 & up) Learn the importance of your role as leader and teach your dog self-control. Learn how to teach your dog to sit down, come, stay, and walk on a loose leash without pulling, resulting in improved behavior in public as well as at home. This course is for dogs 3.5 months and older. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Robina Thornton Fees: $149(R) $179(N) (6 classes) 116234 Wed Sep 19–Oct 24 7–8 p.m. 116235 Wed Nov 7–Dec 19 7–8 p.m. (no class Nov 21) Distraction Proong for Your Dog (age 16 & up) This class will improve your ability to control your dog in unexpected situations. In addition, we work on getting their attention without food in your hands! By adding distractions and practicing commands off leash, your dog will improve self-control, making your public outings more enjoyable.
