GALLERY EXHIBITIONS PART ONE REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 25 December a.vi.an: Works in Cut Paper by Ingrid Erickson Town Hall Gallery Friday, November 30–Friday, January 18, 2019 Artist Reception: Saturday, December 1 | 2–4 p.m. Medium: Cut Paper Erickson's work in cut paper reects the intersection of art and science. She explores the ornithology, botany, and ecology of ecosystems through the rendering of specic species. Each project involves extensive on-site research. She completed a course in Bird Biology from Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology in Ithaca, New York, and is an active participant in Citizen Science projects, as well as a wildlife rehab volunteer at the North Carolina Zoo. John Johnson: It's All Been Done Herbert C. Young Community Center Gallery Friday, November 30–Sunday, January 6, 2019 Medium: Mixed Media Johnson describes, "I'm a pretty traditional guy who likes to draw everyday subjects in traditional mediums and ways. I'm hoping the drawings will speak for themselves and that people who view them enjoy them for their simplicity." As you stroll through Downtown Cary, look out for the newest installment of sculptures by featured artists Helen Lessick, Jim Gallucci, Jacob Burmood, Hanna Jubran, Adam Walls, Ray Katz, and Jack Mackie. As part of the 2018-19 streetscape theme, "Music, Dance, and Poetry", the temporary art reflects Cary's unique relationship to its most precious resource—the arts! On display through November 2019 Academy Street Artwork Projects (ASAP) is the Town's public art initiative designed to enhance the identity and image of downtown Cary as a civic and cultural destination for residents, visitors and businesses while preserving and enlivening Cary's sense of place.
