Ingrid Erickson: Works in Cut Paper Town Hall Gallery Through Friday, January 18 Medium: Cut Paper Ingrid Erickson's work in cut paper reflects the intersection of art and science. She explores the ornithology, botany, and ecology of ecosystems through the rendering of specific species. John Johnson: It's All Been Done Herbert C. Young Community Center Through Sunday January 20 Media: Mixed A collection of drawings of things and people the artist finds interesting. The artworks range in mediums from colored pencil and soft pastel to ball point pen. Jackie MacLeod: The Magic of Patinas Bond Park Community Center Wednesday, January 2–Thursday, February 28 Artist Reception: Friday, February 1 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Sculpture/Mixed A patina is a thin layer of color that develops on metal after it is exposed to heat, air, and/or acids over time. MacLeod uses copper, brass, tin, and steel and explores a variety of old and new techniques to emulate that exposure. What would you rather be: the shiny new unblemished metal or the tarnished and beautifully aged one with character? Sandra Elliott: Pieces of Me Page-Walker Arts & History Center Friday, January 4–Monday, February 4 Artist Reception: Friday, January 25 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Mixed Sometimes the parts of the sum are more interesting and tell the bigger story. This show delves into dismantling and rejoining past work and putting it together in an entirely new way. Following the journey of failure and successes and how they all play a role in the artist that Elliott is now and the work she is creating. Jill Hunt: Silk and Song Page-Walker Arts & History Center Friday, January 4–Monday, February 4 Media: Mixed Hunt presents her hand-painted silk art in a unique exhibit, showcasing her use of the serti technique to create original art both to display and to wear.
