Join us as we review the basics of throwing and catching a softball, learn proper throwing techniques, and practice catching a ball consistently and safely. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $20(R) $26(N) (1 class) 121053 Sat Mar 2 noon–1:30 p.m. Softball Hitting Skills & Techniques— Beginner (age 8–17) Learn how to develop a sound swing with fundamental hitting mechanics. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 121051 Sat Mar 2 10–11:30 a.m. Softball: Pitcher & Catcher Positions—Beginner (age 8–17) Pitchers: Learn the windmill pitch, focusing on isolating the mechanics of the pitch, with emphasis on throwing a fastball. Work on good stride, plant and drag for pitching while learning drills for the pitching plane/power line. Catchers will be introduced to proper positioning, glove work, blocking, movement to the ball, throw downs, and footwork. Catcher equipment will be provided. You will be asked to indicate if you are a pitcher or catcher upon registration. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 121049 Sun Mar 3 12:30 p.m. Softball Hitting Skills & Techniques— Intermediate (age 10–17) Are you an experienced player and have confidence in the batter's box? This is the clinic for you! Learn how to improve your swing to accomplish stronger contact, hit placement, and bat speed. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructors: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 121052 Sat Mar 2 8:30–10 a.m. The Town of Cary offers year-round one-on-one softball lessons from qualified instructors for youth ages 7–17. Lessons are $30 per half hour or $45 per hour. Schedule a hitting, fielding or pitching lesson today. Lessons can be booked through the Town of Cary EZ-Reg system. Lesson availability will be added onto EZ- Reg each month starting on the 25th of each month prior. If you have any questions, email TOCinstructors@townofcary.org. PRIVATE INSTRUCTION Softball Mini Intros Mini Intros are small group lessons for the beginner just starting out in the game through the NTC Academy level or for a player who is working on a new skill or position. In smaller groups, instructors can provide greater attention to each player to help develop the skill needed. Mini Intro information, including the specific focus and skill level, will be released monthly. They will be limited to four players, unless otherwise noted. Mini Intros can be booked through the Town of Cary EZ-Reg system and will be added onto EZ- Reg each month starting on the 25th of each month prior. Mini Intros are $15 per 60 minutes of instruction or $60 per 90 minutes of instruction. If you have any questions, email TOCinstructors@townofcary.org. Softball Instruction Level Descriptions BEGINNER: A player who is new to the game. INTERMEDIATE: A player who has played 1–3 seasons of recreation softball who has a basic understanding of the skills being taught. NEXT LEVEL: A player who has played in a more competitive environment for at least one season (middle/high school softball or travel ball). This player is confident on the field and in the batter's box. This player has a greater level of intensity and game knowledge than the Intermediate player and can handle fast-paced workouts and drills. NTC ACADEMY: A player in grade 8–12 who has played a couple of seasons of school softball or travel ball. This player has a high level of game knowledge and intensity and has the capacity to be instructed in a more competitive environment.
