SPORTS PART TWO REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 117 Volleyball League & Classes Girls Volleyball League (age 10–18) The Youth Girls Volleyball League is separated into three age groups: 10–12, 13–14, and 15–18. All age groups will play weekly Monday-Friday, with Tuesdays being the least common night of play. Teams will be formed during team placements the week of May 13 (age determined as of Sep 1, 2019). League play will be two nights per week most weeks, from the last week in May through the end of July. Before playing in our leagues, players should have participated in other leagues, or in a Town of Cary Volleyball skills class. Those without experience in organized leagues should consider the Volleyball Skills Classes beginning in April. Registration is for individuals only. Want to gain more experience? Learn and develop the basic skills and techniques involved in playing the game. The focus will be on fundamentals at each participant's individual level of play. Skills are applied to game situations. Softball: Pitcher & Catcher Positions —Intermediate (age 11–17) Pitchers: We will reinforce proper pitching mechanics and introduce drills to increase pitch speed and power generated from legs and core. Review proper grip, spin and body rotation for change-ups and learn movement pitches. Catchers: We will review solid positioning, framing, blocking and footwork. Practice bunt coverage, diving for balls, throwing from the knee, fast pops, throw downs, and how to be a leader on the field. You will be asked to indicate if you are a pitcher or catcher upon registration. Location: Mills Park Softball Field Instructor: Town of Cary Softball Instructors Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (1 class) 121050 Sun Mar 3 2:30–4 p.m. NTC Academy—Power & Agility for Sports–Softball Focus (age 12–18) Get the edge on your competition! Strength and conditioning training paired with speed and agility work will help you to develop power and quick reaction time needed to be successful in sports. Learn and practice execute proper warmup and cool down techniques to aid in injury prevention. Information will be on the Town website at http://games.townofcarync.gov/. A recording will also be on the Weather Cancellation Line (919) 319- 4500. Updates are made at 3 p.m. each weekday, 7 a.m. on Saturday, and noon on Sunday. If a decision is made after these times, it will be announced by the officials at the facility. INCLEMENT WEATHER
