SPECIAL EVENTS 12 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org PART ONE April Cary Road Race Saturday, April 6 | Registration Opens at 7 a.m.; Race Begins at 8:30 a.m. Pre-registration: $25 Race-Day: $35 Downtown Park The 41st Annual Cary Road Race is a family event that includes a 5K, a 5 mile, and a Fun Run. The course is a challenging route over rolling city streets that starts and finishes in downtown Cary. Registration opens October 1. Triangle's Got Talent Saturday, April 6 | 6 p.m. | $10 The Cary Theater Wake County middle and high school teens will showcase their talent while helping to raise awareness about disparity in the Triangle area. All proceeds will be donated to a local charity. Dogs with Dad Saturday, April 6 | 5:30–7 p.m. | Age 4–10 Rain Date: April 7 $29 Per Parent/Child Pair; $12 For Each Additional Child Fred G. Bond Metro Park Boathouse Join us for a night of fun! Start the night off with a hot dog dinner at the Boathouse. Then enjoy a pedal boat or canoe ride on the lake. End the night at the beach eating s'mores. Register using course code 119052. Spring Litter Sweep Saturday, April 6 | Shifts Available 8 a.m.-noon | Free All Ages | Throughout Cary Calling all volunteers! Families, groups and individuals: select a spot in your neighborhood or join us at an existing site. The Town of Cary provides all the needed tools and supplies, including trash and recycling collection service. Registration is required and opens March 1. For location details, search "Spruce" at www.townofcary.org. Breakfast with the Bunny Saturday, April 13 | 9–10 a.m. Age 10 & Up $5; Age 3–9 $4; Age 2 & Under Free, With Ticket. Herbert C. Young Community Center Join the Easter Bunny for a delicious breakfast, followed by a private egg hunt! The Easter Bunny is available for pictures for ticket holders during this time. Tickets go on sale March 11 at the Herbert C. Young Community Center. This is a Cary Teen Council fundraising event. Annual Health Fair Thursday, March 14 | 9:30 a.m.–1 p.m. | Age 55 & Up | Free Cary Senior Center Join Resources for Seniors, Inc. and the Cary Senior Center for our annual Health Fair where you will find local health and wellness experts, health screenings, pharmacy consultations, and more! Appointments required for some health screenings. Register in advance using course code 119551. Line Dancing Gone Green Friday, March 15 | noon–2:30 p.m. | Age 55 & Up | Free Cary Senior Center Line dance to your favorite tunes this spring! Jump right in with both feet and enjoy the night. Bring a dish to share, and don't forget to wear green! Dance instruction provided. Register by March 8 using course code 120434. Kite Festival Saturday, March 16 | 12:30–3 p.m. | Free Rain date: Sunday, March 17 Fred G. Bond Metro Park Bond Park's 24th Annual Kite Festival is a fun way to spend the afternoon flying kites and watching others soar! Certificates and awards will be given in a variety of categories. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. and the fun begins at 1 p.m. Arbor Day Saturday, March 16 | 1–3 p.m. | Free Downtown Cary Celebrate trees at this family-friendly event, which includes education, exhibitors, and activities for kids. Take home a free tree and enjoy one-on-one time with a certified arborist. Join us in celebrating our designation of Tree City USA with games, music, food and prizes! Nazim Hikmet Poetry Festival Sunday, March 24 | 1–7 p.m. | Free Page-Walker Arts & History Center Celebrate poetry at this annual festival with poets, scholars, and lovers of poetry. Meet the competition winners; listen to poetry readings and keynote speakers, then enjoy a reception and hangout with poets from around the world.
