Discuss the correct timing for starting seeds, planting at optimal time for maximizing your harvest, use of row covers to prolong your season and prevent predators. Learn about the Prairie Ridge Ecostation that serves as the NC Museum of National Science's backyard. With 45 acres of Piedmont prairie, forest, ponds, a stream and sustainable building features integrated with a wildlife- friendly landscape. Prairie Ridge enhances public understanding and appreciation of the natural environment by providing an outdoor learning space and acting as a model for renewable and sustainable energy.
