52 Winter/Spring 2019 Cary Senior Center Kayaking for Seniors @BPBH This introductory class covers the basics of the sport including safety, proper stroke technique, braces, wet exiting, and rescues. The class is taught by a certified British Canoe Union Instructor. Kayak rental is included. You will learn how to rig the boat, launch and land, sail at all points to the wind and right the boat after capsize-- everything you need to know to competently sail a Sunfish sailboat. We'll teach you proper stance, paddling strokes, and balance on the board. You'll get on the water instruction and practice. All equipment included. You will be required to be in the water. You will explore local parks and amazing trails. Limited sets of hiking poles are available to borrow on a first-come first-served basis for scheduled day hikes. This group will meet in the CSC lobby and drive together. Dress for the weather and wear appropriate shoes. More information is available at the front desk.
