We'll explore what we've learned over the years, present new ways to look at human sexuality and relationships and talk together about what 'forever sexual' means to us. Location: Classroom 302 Instructor: Bonnie Nilsen Science Lectures with Harry Dammers FREE Location: Classroom 302 CHEMISTRY: YOUR GRUDGE MATCH Did you hate chemistry in school? Join us for a rematch. You'll learn the human stories about how this stuff was figured out. In the words of Mr. Dammers favorite professor, "You come here with a skull full of mush, if you survive (you will) you will leave here thinking like a chemist!". (6 classes) 119711 Mon Jan 7–Feb 18 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. GO GREEN: THE SECRET LIVES OF PLANTS You likely understand something of hearts, lungs and stomachs. Plants have none of those things, what goes on inside a plant? You'll learn about photosynthesis, water, nutrient transport, plant hormones, and even plant sex. You won't ever look at your geranium in the same way. (4 classes) 119715 Wed Jan 9–30 9:15–10:45 a.m. HOMEOSTASIS—KEEPING YOUR BODY STABLE Biologically, you can't afford extremes: eat a chocolate cake and your body tries to lower your blood sugar, bleed and your body makes more blood, run a race on a hot day and your body cools itself. There's a word for keeping things within proper limits, homeostasis. We will show you how it works. (4 classes) 119716 Wed Feb 6–27 9:15–10:45 a.m. BISON, BIVALVES, AND BEES This course will introduce you to the animal kingdom. We will discuss not only cows and puppies, but worms, bugs and everything that creeps and crawls on the earth.
