Practice drills to improve athleticism, footwork, and fielding positions. Get a grip on the basics, including footwork and blade skills needed for bouting. Review proper grip, spin and body rotation for change-ups and learn movement pitches. Catchers: We will review solid positioning, framing, blocking and footwork. Practice bunt coverage, diving for balls, throwing from the knee, fast pops, throw downs, and how to be a leader on the field. You will be asked to indicate if you are a pitcher or catcher upon registration. Quidditch (age 11–17) Dodge a bludger, score goals with the quaffle, and find the snitch first! Learn the fundamentals of 'Muggle Quidditch', the Harry Potter version of Quidditch, through a series of practices and scrimmages. Incidental contact may occur during play much like soccer. Learn and review wind up and stretch mechanics, pick off moves, and defensive responsibilities. This clinic is targeted for participants who want to become effective pitchers on a competitive stage. Proper arm care will be discussed, and tips will be given on ways to increase chances of making school team. Practice opposite field hitting and hitting for power through instructional drills and batting cage practice.
