9 Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Sculpting in Polymer Clay (age 11–15) You can sculpt anything that you can imagine using polymer clay. Come learn about the tools and techniques of sculpting an object with this versatile medium. Instructor: Luis Torres Fees: $28(R) $36(N) (1 class) 119189 Sat Feb 23 1–4 p.m. Screenprinting on T-Shirts (age 11–15) Make art you can wear! Create personal designs using stencil-based silkscreen printing to print on top of T-shirts. Three T-shirts will be provided by the Cary Arts Center. Bring any additional T-shirts, either new (wash first) or used T-shirts to enhance, comment on, or to completely cover the existing printed designs. Bring snacks and a lunch. Students will learn the parts of the lathe, tools used for woodturning, and safety rules for both. Students will also learn the techniques used to turn wood and will make a turned pen at the end of the session. Instructor: David Cook Fees: $66(R) $86(N) (2 classes) 121354 Sat Jan 5–12 2–6 p.m. Introduction to Woodworking with Power Tools (age 12–16) This course is for new or novice woodworkers. Learn to safely use the table saw, miter saw, drill press, router, and power sander. Use these tools to build a quarter-hole game, a small version of corn hole. Supplies included.
