Hemlock Nature Quest (age 13–15) Think you have seen everywhere at Hemlock Bluffs? Think again! Journey with us to far corners of the Preserve on a quest to find nature rarely seen by the others. Dress for the weather and off-trail conditions. Bring your sense of adventure! Participants are eligible to volunteer as program assistants for our younger nature programs. Location: Stevens Nature Center/Hemlock Bluffs Fees: $12(R) $16(N) (1 class) WETLAND SURVEY Join us as we explore winter wetlands. We will search for salamanders, crayfish, and more! Leadership Development (age 11–14) Explore the qualities of being an effective leader through a series of activities and challenges. Location: Cary Senior Center Instructor: Program Staff Fees: $39(R) $55(N) (4 classes) 120594 Mon Feb 4–25 6:30–7:30 p.m. Kayaking for Teens (age 11–17) An introduction to kayaking, this three-hour class covers the basics of the sport. Learn kayak safety, proper stroke technique, braces, wet exiting, and rescues. The class is taught by a certified British Canoe Union instructor. Kayak rental is included in the fee. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Boathouse Instructor: Wes Hall Fees: $37(R) $48(N) (1 class) 120018 Fri May 10 4:30–7 p.m. Stand Up Paddleboard for Teens (age 12–17) Learn the basics of this exciting sport, including proper stance, paddling strokes, and balance on the board.
