July Emily Weinstein: Endless Summer Bond Park Community Center Monday, July 1–Saturday, August 31 Artist Reception: Friday, July 26 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Acrylic & Oil Paintings created in the great outdoors. The work denes complicated elementsin acrylic and oils on canvas and panel. Satisfying compositions that mimic our memories makes Weinstein's artwork both approachable and relatable; satisfying windows looking out on our world. Her paintings encourageus to celebratethe beauty surrounding us. Dave Hattori: Beauty of Birds Page-Walker Arts & History Center Wednesday, July 3–Saturday, August 17 Artist Reception: Friday, July 26 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Digital Photography/Mixed Media Featuring a selection of Hattori's digital photo art, this exhibit showcases the great beauty and diversity of wild birds. Starting with photographs he has taken, he combines elements, textures, and effects to create art pieces that go beyond what the camera recorded to achieve his artistic vision. Dorrie Casey: Shamanic Journeys Cary Arts Center Principal's Hall Friday, May 31–Saturday, July 21 Artist Reception: Friday, May 31 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Mixed Media Assemblages Within the frames, only the pressure of the glass holds the designs in place. There are no adhesives of any kind. Casey describes the Zen quality of this process: "take away the glass and blow, and it's just a bunch of feathers again! For this reason, these works are objects as well as images. Therefore, the measurements accompanying each piece include the height and width of the frame." Michelle Draughon: Abstracture Town Hall Gallery Friday, June 28–Friday, September 20 Artist Reception: Friday, June 28 | 6 -8 p.m. Medium: Acrylic paintings Draughon describes her technique of acrylic pour painting, "With the uid acrylic paintings, I've been focusing more on colors and textures than on images. They create emotions which can be soothing or explosive." Bill Stice: Roaming the National Parks Herbert C. Young Community Center Friday, June 28–Friday, September 20 Artist Reception: Friday, June 28 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Photography Stice captures beautiful images from his travels to National Parks and his encounters with nature. There is rarely a time during the year that he does not have a camera around his neck. Photography has always been a passion for him but, since his retirement from the Town of Cary, he has devoted his time to travels and photography.
