Instructors will assign books at rst class. Classes culminate in a recital. Youth & Teen Learn piano theory; develop playing technique; learn proper nger and hand alignment; and build muscle memory through warm-ups and exercises. Classes are designed to build upon one another. Little Piano (age K5-6) Develop beginning keyboard skills using creative songs, rhythm games, and technique activities! Explore your playful spirit as you learn about the keyboard, note values, and pre-reading. Little Piano teaches these skills with a focus on techniques for younger students. Small Group and Piano in Pairs use the same curriculum but include either 3-6 students (Small Group) or two students (Piano in Pairs). Students may repeat a course level until their instructor determines they are ready to move on to the next level. Students who complete the highest level of instruction offered should speak with program staff about options. PRIMER A No Prerequisite. This beginning class is the starting point of any piano curriculum. Learn sight reading, notes, ve-nger patterns, beats and rhythms. PRIMER B Prerequisite: Primer A. This continuation of the Primer course teaches playing with both hands along both clefs. LEVEL 1 Prerequisite: Primer B. Technique improves as students learn to play in varied positions, reinforce reading skills, and build musicianship. LEVEL 2 Prerequisite: Level 1. Lessons continue with an introduction to transposition and functional harmony. LEVEL 3 Prerequisite: Level 2. Lessons emphasize correct playing habits and note reading through interval recognition. MIXED LEVEL No Prerequisite. Students of varying levels benet from learning from each other with guidance from instructor. APPLIED PIANO Students can apply their piano techniques in new ways, like learning chording to accompany singers or polishing your stage presence and condence.
