Junior Naturalist (age 5–8 w/caregiver) Spend quality time with your child in programs that encourage you both to develop your naturalist skills and understanding of local nature. Through outdoor investigations in the Preserve, become better acquainted with plants and wildlife while enjoying a shared learning experience. A parent attends with each child and fee covers both. Fees: $12(R) $16(N) (1 class) EXPLORING SWIFT CREEK We will explore Swift Creek, searching for craysh, salamanders, sh, and more! Wear closed-toe shoes and clothes that can get wet. Equipment provided. 124938 Sun Jun 16 3–4:30 p.m. SUMMER NATURE STROLL Beat the summer heat with this morning stroll to look for reptiles, birds, and bugs. 124939 Sat Jul 27 10–11:30 a.m. Senior All classes take place at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Center unless other noted. Silver Naturalists (age 55 & up) Experience nature in a peaceful setting designed for easy wildlife viewing. You'll have an opportunity to ask questions about common plants and animals during indoor presentations and on leisurely nature walks. Fees: $5(R) $7(N) (1 class) BIRDING BASICS Enjoy the birds of summer by sight and sound. Binoculars can be provided. 124336 Tue Jun 11 10–11:30 a.m. NORTH CARY PARK EXPLORATION Explore parts of the Black Creek Greenway with us during peak bird nesting and summer wildowers. Meet at North Cary Park. 124337 Wed Jun 26 10–11:30 a.m. BOND PARK SUMMER ADVENTURES Join our summer nature adventure along at Bond Park. Meets in front of Bond Park Community Center. 124338 Tue Jul 9 10–11:30 a.m. WHITE OAK CREEK GREENWAY ADVENTURE Search along this scenic greenway as summer races along to search for birds and wildowers. 124341 Wed Jul 24 10–11:30 a.m. MEDICINAL AND EDIBLE PLANTS This popular annual walk will focus on traditional plant uses by people and wildlife. 124339 Tue Aug 6 10–11:30 a.m. PLANT POWER! Sharpen plant identication skills and learn how wildlife use native plants in late summer. 124340 Wed Aug 28 10–11:30 a.m. Early registration allows us time to plan appropriately. Often, we can accommodate those on waiting lists by adding additional spots in the class or adding additional classes. Classes that do not meet their minimum enrollment may be cancelled. You could make the difference! DON'T WAIT! Nature Education and Outdoor Recreation classes may involve traveling over rough or uneven terrain. To help prevent injuries, closed-toe foot wear is required. Rubber boots, hiking shoes, or sneakers are recommended; do not wear ip-ops, Crocs, sandals, or other open-toe shoes. Bare feet are absolutely prohibited! PROTECT YOUR FEET!
