SPORTS PART TWO 102 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org c Winter Basketball (age 9–18) Sports for girls and boys emphasize sportsmanship, skill development, participation for all players, and fun. The season begins with practices in December and games begin in January. New players and players changing leagues are required to attend a skills review session prior to the season. The Town's Winter Basketball program is divided into a West Zone, a Central Zone, and a South Zone. The gyms located in each of those zones can be found on the map to the right. Every age group/league is offered in each of the three zones (Exception: Girls 13–14 and Girls 15–18 are offered in the Central Zone only due to registration numbers). When registering, be sure you are using the league code that corresponds to the gym locations at which you wish to practice and play most often. In the age groups with the smallest registration numbers, leagues may be created from multiple zones, and games may take place in multiple zones. In most or all age groups, teams will have half or more of their games, and all or nearly all of their practices, in the zone in which they registered.
