This exhibition includes IR images taken during yearly visits to St. Simons and Jekyll Islands over the past 10 years. Colors, textures, vegetation, and many other objects reflect IR (infrared) light in unique and unusual ways." November Susan Peters Bond Park Community Center Friday, November 15–Tuesday, December 31 Artist Reception: Friday, November 1 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Mixed Peters shares,"I enjoy using bright colors in my work, and enjoy painting a variety of subject matter, as well as using varied techniques. Depending on my mood, I can go from painting flowers and animals, to abstract figures, flow art, and resin. I am also enjoying learning new mediums such as alcohol ink and encaustic." Cary Photographic Artists Members Show Cary Arts Center Friday, November 29–Sunday, January 19 Artist Reception: Saturday, December 7 | 2–4 p.m. Medium: Photography The Cary Photographic Artists formed in January 2007 as Cary's only organization dedicated to the enhancement of photography in the fine arts. The group shares the goal of education and the sharing of photographic technology. Celebrating 40 Years of Cary Greenways Cary Arts Center Principal's Hall Friday, November 29–Sunday, January 19 Reception: Saturday, December 7 | 2–4 p.m. Medium: Photographs The Town of Cary is celebrating 40 Years of Cary Greenways! As a part of this celebration, Cary held a photography competition that showcases Cary's unique network of greenways. Area professional photographers and amateurs submitted their best photographs of Cary's Greenways. Red Ribbon Student Poster Show Herbert C. Young Community Center Gallery Wednesday, October 23–Wednesday, November 20 Media: Mixed Each year, area middle school students express their creativity during Red Ribbon Week by creating posters that help promote drug and alcohol awareness. This program is a joint sponsorship of the Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department and the Cary Police Department. Cary Photographic Artists' 12th Annual Open Juried Photographic Exhibit Cary Senior Center Monday, October 21–Friday, December 20 Artist Reception: Friday, October 25 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Mixed An exhibit of images from top photographers throughout the Triangle. Judi H. Bastion: Stone Barns Page-Walker Arts & History Center Wednesday October 16–Saturday, November 23 Artist Reception: Friday October 25 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Art Quilts Judi H. Bastion is a quiltist who combines photography and quilt design. Each of the 12 quilts in the Stone Barns series is an original design using traditional quilting techniques, inspired by photographs taken at Stone Barns Center in Pocantico Hills, New York. The exhibit will also include new art quilts mounted on canvas inspired by the same photographs. THOMAS GRUBER
