look what's new CARY IS COMMITTED TO OFFERING PROGRAMS and facilities that are accessible to people of all abilities. In fact, it's part of our mission: to provide high-quality and accessible programs, services, parks, and facilities that inspire and enrich the lives of all Cary citizens. And, have we been busy this year working to fulfill our obligation to do just that. The projects described below address facility modifications identified in the Town of Cary's American Disability Act (ADA) Transition Plan, which calls for the removal of barriers that could limit full accessibility. Bond Park's waterfront now has a wheelchair accessible route to the beach and fishing area, a new boat rack for canoes and kayaks, two new boardwalk sections along the water's edge, and a new foot wash in front of the Boathouse. Visit us daily June through August and weekends in April, May, September, and October. Recent renovations at Bond Park Community Center provide enhanced accessibility to those in wheelchairs. Updates include a new front desk, locker room showers, and vending areas. A second set of interior entry doors will be installed to create an energy- efficient vestibule. Come see the changes! The Cary Senior Center had a facelift of its own! Recent facility modifications, as outlined in the ADA Transition Plan, include renovated administrative offices and bathrooms, as well as a front desk area that is wheelchair friendly. And, enjoy the new sit-and- chat area where you can meet friends, old and new. You can also find a new GoCary Transit office at the Cary Senior Center, complete with all the information you need to get from place to place. We're making history at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center! The front desk and kitchen are now wheelchair friendly, while new toilets on the second and third floors allow for full accessibility. There is more to do, but precedence for future projects has been established. And, that's a win-win!
