PARKS PART THREE REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org 153 Marla Dorrel Park 111 Thurston Drive, 27518 Home of the Kid's Together Playground, Marla Dorrel Park isn't your typical suburban park. Unique elements include a dragon climbing structure (named KATAL), progressive design elements and landscaping, and a play area where kids of all physical and mental abilities can enjoy fully integrated play in a multi-sensory environment that challenges both muscles and minds. The park connects to a pedestrian overpass linking it to MacDonald Woods. The trail crosses stream that runs adjacent to the park and a small wetland can be found close by. Hours: Sunrise to sunset Features: Basketball slab, multi-use slab, playground, picnic shelter, picnic tables, and restrooms. Middle Creek School Park 151 Middle Creek Park Avenue, 27539 Explore 105 beautiful acres featuring tennis courts, athletic fields, a disc golf course, scenic trails, and a picnic shelter. Middle Creek Park is fun for a family outing to enjoy the playground and open lawn. Middle Creek School Park, adjacent to Middle Creek High School, is the result of a collaborative effort between the Town of Cary and the Wake County Public School System. Hours: Sunrise to sunset; in lighted areas where visitors are participating in an approved extended use activity, hours are extended until 30 minutes after the completion of the activity. Features: Athletic complex with four lighted baseball/softball fields with restrooms, two lighted artificial turf multi-purpose fields with restrooms, 18-hole disc golf course, two basketball courts, eight lighted tennis courts with restrooms, picnic shelter, play area with adjacent open lawn area, 0.50 miles of paved trail around softball fields, and 0.33 miles of paved trail around multipurpose fields. Mills Park School Park 425 Mills Park Drive, 27519 With a focus on athletic fields, Mills Park School Park is located on the campuses of Mills Park Middle and Elementary schools in West Cary. It is a collaborative effort between the Wake County School System and the Town of Cary. Hours: Limited to 5:30 p.m.–11 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m.–11 p.m. Saturday & Sunday Features: Lighted artificial turf multi-purpose field, lighted natural grass multi-purpose/track stadium field, an open-play area, lighted youth softball field, picnic shelter with restrooms, and a lighted basketball slab. c Cary Dog Parks Godbold Park, 2050 N.W. Maynard Road Jack Smith Park, 9725 Penny Road Open daily 7 a.m.–10 p.m. The Town of Cary Dog Parks provide a place for dog owners to let their pets run safely without a leash. Features include separate, lighted areas for small and large dogs; wood chip ground cover; benches; water stations; pet cleanup areas; and a five-foot- high fence with screening and an electronic entrance gate. REQUIREMENTS FOR PARK USE 1. Town of Cary Pet ID tag (one-time fees) • $50 for non-neutered/non-spayed dogs • $10 for neutered/spayed dogs • $5 for neutered/spayed and micro-chipped dogs 2. An annual or day pass (includes access to both parks) • Annual pass for single dog: $40 for residents; $80 for nonresidents • Annual pass multiple dogs: $60 for residents; $120 for nonresidents • Day pass: $5 for residents; $10 for nonresidents 3. A registration form and waiver. Forms must be completed and signed by the dog owner. A vet's proof of neuter/spay and/or micro-chipping and proof of rabies vaccinations are required.
