She has been painting and drawing since she was in grade school. She taught 29 years in the Guilford County Schools. After her retirement, she started painting in watercolor. She specializes in many subjects including home portraits, landscapes, plus children and pet portraits. She is a member of the NC Watercolor Society, Cary Fine Arts League, and NC Paint. October Nanci Tanton: Cary Arts Center Students Show Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, October 25–Wednesday, November 20 Reception: Friday, October 25 | 6–8 p.m. Media: Mixed Cary Arts Center students showcase their artworks created during classes at the Cary Arts Center. A diverse range of artworks and mediums are on display and sure to delight the viewer. Diamante: Ritmo Latino Festival Cary Arts Center Principal's Hall Friday, October 25–Wednesday, November 20 Artist Reception: Friday, October 25 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Photography A collection of photographs of Ritmo Latino Festival celebrating the art, culture, rhythms, and food. Ritmo Latino Festival is a free street festival organized by Diamante Arts & Cultural Center each May. Michelle Draughon: Abstracture Town Hall Gallery Through Friday, September 20 Medium: Acrylic paintings The artist describes her technique of acrylic pour painting, "with the fluid acrylic paintings, I've been focusing more on colors and textures than on images. They create emotions which can be soothing or explosive." Barry Udis: The Many Views of H2O Town Hall Gallery Friday, September 27–Friday, November 22 Medium: Photography When looking at Udis photography one aspect jumps out: the numerous ways H20 is integral to the focus of his work. He captures the form and beauty of water in his works. Fine Arts League of Cary: Fabulous Fakes Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, September 27–Sunday, October 20 Artist Reception: Friday, September 27 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Mixed Medium The Fine Arts League of Cary try their hands at imitating the great Masters of Art. Van Gogh, Rembrandt, Rueben, and more will be making an appearance as FALC presents their Fabulous Fakes show. Artists' works will be displayed beside smaller versions of the originals they painted.
