Feel the ambiance of the Town a century ago as you view a scale model of the village, meet Cary's founding family, and learn about the Union General from Ohio for whom our Town was named. See the development of the Cary community from a one-square- mile area in 1871 to a 55-square-mile area today. A timeline comprised of two and three-dimensional artifacts provides historic perspective by presenting local, national, and international events side-by-side. Ongoing programming helps to link the past to the present. "Cary-On!" is a free study guide for teachers and students interested in learning more about Cary. Call (919) 460-4963 to learn more! c History & Heritage Discover Cary's rich history at the Page-Walker Arts & History Center. c Page-Walker Arts & History Center The Page-Walker was built in 1868 as a railroad hotel by Town of Cary founder Allison Francis Page and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A complete restoration in the 1990s converted the building into an arts and history center. Alive with classes, events, performances, exhibitions, receptions, and meetings, the Page- Walker boasts fine arts exhibits featuring local and regional artists, an Educational Garden with the Page Smokehouse, and the Cary Heritage Museum.
