PAINTING Painting with Marcelle Express yourself by painting with acrylics, water-soluble oils and other unique mediums. You must have all supplies at the first class. Location: Classroom 306 Instructor: Marcelle Hooks Painting Seascapes & Water This class will cover painting individual elements of the seascapes and water. Students will learn to mass in the large elements to begin and then apply the final layer of color. Techniques to make waves and movement in the water and color mixing will be stressed, including knowing which brushes to use to get the effect you need. These will be individual instruction and demonstrations. This class is for the beginner to advanced levels, and for acrylic or water mixable oils. Techniques for painting gold and silver ribbons and decorations will be covered, plus much more. Students may choose from photos furnished by Instructor or they may bring their own photos which have been enlarged to 8 x 10. Demonstrations and much individual attention will guide you through this class. Participants will learn techniques and aesthetic considerations. Painters who desire to make art that goes beyond realism from semiabstract to nonobjective will get to try their hand at several assigned projects and will have time to select their individual path to abstraction. Classes include hard edge abstraction, lyrical landscapes, collage and mixed media work, etc. Location: Classroom 306 Instructor: Louise Fass Fees: $85(R) $111(N) (8 classes) 128767 Tue Sep 3–Oct 29 1–3:30 p.m. (no class 10/22) Water Marbling (Ebru) Water marbling, also known as Ebru in Turkish, is an art for creating colorful patterns on water by sprinkling and brushing color pigments. After you paint your artwork on special water surface you can transfer it onto paper, card, canvas, wood, shells, and ornaments. Techniques like battal, come and go, comb hearts, flowers and abstract designs will be taught. Experience the magic of colors dancing on water.
