THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, WE MAINTAIN AND INSPECT SEWER LINES AND MANHOLES TO IDENTIFY AND REPAIR DEFECTS BEFORE PROBLEMS OCCUR. CARY ANNUALLY BUDGETS FUNDS TO RENEW AGING SECTIONS OF THIS CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DISRUPTIVE AND COSTLY EMERGENCY REPAIRS. THIS WORK EXTENDS THE SERVICE LIFE OF THESE ASSETS BY AT LEAST 50 YEARS. The flexible liner is installed in sections from one manhole to the next manhole. Air or water pressure is used to push and inflate the liner inside the pipe and expand it for a secure and tight fit. The liner contains a special resin that hardens when hot water or steam is applied to start the curing process. 4 Once the curing process is complete, the liner becomes a "pipe-within-a-pipe" that is seamless from manhole to manhole and is corrosion resistant. Any connections to the repaired sewer pipe are restored and the pipe is placed back in service within the same day. The most common method of sewer rehabilitation involves installing a cured-in-place liner into an existing sewer pipe. 3 5
