Learn about feature placement, the use of negative space and shading to create a more realistic head study using a variety of graphite media. Bring a close up photo copy of your favorite face (no originals or electronics, please) and 9x12 sketchbook for preliminary drawings. The use of other materials will be provided. Using the essential tools of calligraphy, India ink, dip pen and a variety of pen nib points, students will practice this letterform and have fun applying this style to a variety of stationary projects. The use of tools and materials is included in the $2 supply fee. In this class you will learn how to use colored pencils as a fine art medium. The instructor will introduce the basics of colored pencil such as pencil strokes, layering and burnishing techniques. Working from photos, you will complete one or more paintings of a subject of your choice of flowers, fruits, glass, metal and more. All levels are welcome.
