Explore watercolor techniques such as wet into wet, dry brush, and washes to produce skies, clouds, water, rocks, and more! Learn what materials to use to improve the success of your own painting! Location: Classroom 306 Instructor: Rocky Alexander Fees: $40(R) $52(N) (4 classes) PAINTING FOLDS AND FABRICS IN WATERCOLORS You will learn how to render dimensionally hills and valleys of fabrics in Watercolors. Some experience necessary, but geared for beginner- intermediate. Tue Jan 14–Feb 4 1–3:30 p.m. 002320 (4 classes) BEGINNING WATERCOLORS You will learn the real basics of painting elements of a landscape, including skies, trees, mountains and rocks, water and waves. It's for the real beginner where supplies will be discussed and why they are necessary. No experience needed. Fri Jan 17–Feb 7 9:30–noon 002325 (4 classes) PAINTING VASES AND GLASS IN WATERCOLORS You will experiment with ways to paint transparency in glass and reflections on surfaces such as crockery, copper and silver. Some experience necessary. Tue Feb 11–Mar 3 1–3:30 p.m. 002321 (4 classes) CONTINUING BEGINNING WATERCOLORS You will continue to experience painting Watercolors by painting the elements of a still life, including fruits and veggies, flowers and leaves, which will help them with the forms and shadows of objects. No experience necessary. Fri Feb 14–Mar 6 9:30–noon 002326 (4 classes) PAINTING FLOWERS AND GARDENS IN WATERCOLORS You will learn to depict spring flowers both in bouquets and gardens, for a delightful spring experience, and to have a painting or two for your walls. Some experience necessary. Tue Mar 10–31 1–3:30 p.m. 002322 (4 classes) MIXING COLORS IN WATERCOLORS Have you ever wondered why you get mud in your painting? This class may help you understand which colors will work when mixed with other colors. We'll look at the color wheel, paint some mixtures with your selection of colors and put them in a composition! No experience necessary. Fri Mar 13–Apr 3 9:30–noon 002327 (4 classes) PAINTING WATER IN WATERCOLORS You will learn a detailed method of painting difficult patterns in water, combining wet into wet technique and calligraphy to indicate patterning in reflections. Some experience necessary. Tue Apr 7–28 1–3:30 p.m. 002323 (4 classes) TEXTURES IN WATERCOLOR Have you ever wanted to paint realistic textures? This class will explore many types of techniques and brushes and their resulting textures for your paintings, including baskets, bricks, pavement, rocks, stucco, and more! No experience necessary.
