18 Winter/Spring 2020 Cary Senior Center Computer Learning WHAT'S NEW IN WINDOWS 10 Windows 10 is designed to please both touch and mouse users. It's also designed to be intuitive for users of both Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, incorporating the best of both worlds to enhance your experience and help you be more productive. This seminar will introduce you to the basic look and feel of the Windows 10 operating system, provide an overview of new and enhanced features and offer you information to upgrade your Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 OS to Windows 10. This class is designed for users familiar with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. Location: Classroom 302 Fees: $5(R) $6(N) (1 class) Session 1 Wed Jan 29 1:30–4 p.m. 001508 Session 2 Thu Apr 30 9:30–noon 001509 EXPLORING WINDOWS 10 This course explores the features of Windows 10 and how Windows 10 differs from previous versions of Windows. The course covers more details than the 1-day "What's New In Windows 10" seminar and allows you to try out Windows 10 features in a hands-on lab environment. You will learn how to customize the Windows 10 Desktop, Start Menu, and Task Bar, and how to tailor the appearance and behavior of Windows 10 to suit your needs. Since this is an intermediate level course, students are expected to have a basic working knowledge of some version of Windows. A student Flash Drive is required (Available for $10 at the Front Desk.) You may bring your own if you prefer. Fees: $20(R) $25(N) (4 classes) Session 1 M,Tu,W,Th Feb 3–6 9:30–noon 001506 Session 2 M,Tu,W,Th May 18–21 9:30–noon 001507 Windows 50+ Location: Computer Lab, unless otherwise stated COMPUTER SKILLS 1 FOR WINDOWS 10 Let's explore and learn the basics of computer operations in this new essential class for seniors with Windows 10! This course introduces you to the basics of computing and provides extensive practice using the mouse and the keyboard. You are introduced to and use the WordPad and the Paint applications programs. This course is intended for those with minimum or no experience using a computer. A student Flash Drive is required (Available for $10 at the Front Desk.) You may bring your own if you prefer. Fees: $30(R) $39(N) (6 classes) Session 1 Tu,W,F Jan 14–24 1:30–4 p.m. 001492 Session 2 M,Tu,Th Mar 9–19 9:30–noon 001493 COMPUTER SKILLS 2 FOR WINDOWS 10 This course will teach you how to organize and manipulate all kinds of files and folders (documents, pictures, music, etc.) so that you can easily retrieve them. You will also gain an understanding of accounts and privilege in Windows 10. You can customize the look of the computer for each account user. We will also teach you the workings of Windows 10 "Start Menu" and the new File Explorer. A student Flash Drive is required (Available for $10 at the Front Desk.)
