The Crabtree and Black Creek Greenway Sewer Rehabilitation Project
will strengthen critical sewer infrastructure necessary to protect natural
resources and optimize Cary's utility operations. This 12 million dollar
project will reline approximately 19,000 feet of sewer lines between
24–54" in diameter. While temporary greenway closures are necessary
during this project, Cary will provide alternate greenway routes.

The flexible liner is installed
as a continuous, one-piece
liner from manhole to
manhole. Air or water
pressure is used to push
and inflate the liner inside
the pipe and expand it for a
secure and tight fit. The liner
contains a special resin that
hardens when hot water or
steam is applied to start the
curing process.

Once the curing process
is complete, the liner
becomes a corrosion-
resistant "pipe-within-a-
pipe" that is seamless from
manhole to manhole and
ready for another 50 years
of service. Any connections
to the repaired sewer pipe
are restored and the pipe
is placed back in service
within the same day.
The most common
method of sewer
rehabilitation
involves installing
a cured-in-place
liner into
an existing
sewer pipe.
