Learn about bluegrass melodies and harmonies, rhythm playing, improvisation using scales, modes and chord tones, and the use of the bow and bowing patterns. For campers with basic fiddle skills who can play a few tunes confidently. Campers bring their own instrument. Lunch supervision included with registration in both morning and afternoon camp. Presented with Piedmont Council of Traditional Music. BEGINNER BLUEGRASS FIDDLE An introduction to bluegrass fiddling. Learn basic melodies, rhythm playing, and peek into the world of improvisation. Campers should have some experience playing violin and be able to play a simple song, but do not need to have mastered tuning, bowing, or finger placement. Improve your technique alongside peers with a similar interest in bluegrass. Campers should know at least G, C, and D chords and be able to play a simple song or two. Campers will gain experience playing with others as well as learning from instructor. Campers should know at least G, D, and A chords and be able to play a simple song.
