His disciplines within the medium have changed over time, starting with early years spent doing stained glass in a Tiffany style, and briefly exploring blown glass known as torch work. However, around 1990, while still enjoying the play of light through glass, Larry discovered his niche in fused glass. In 1991, during a visit to the Corning Museum of Glass, Larry encountered his first pieces of woven glass from an early 1900 display of period pieces. Captivated by these woven glass creations, he found no readily available information about the process, which made him feel like he was reinventing the wheel. Embracing trial and error as a way of life, he dedicated several years to working on it part-time until he mastered the process and acquired the basic skills of weaving glass. After 35 years of pursuing his passion for glass, Larry believes he still has several more years ahead to explore this phase and potentially pursue other deviations of woven glass. The journey of artistic discovery and innovation continues to fuel his creative spirit, keeping him engaged and inspired in his lifelong artistic endeavor. In 2001, the Jerry Miller Awards were instituted to commemorate the 25th annual festival and honor Jerry Miller, the festival founder. Each year, these winners are selected as the best in show for the festival! Award winners are automatically invited to participate in the following year's festival and are exempt from festival fees for that year.
