VOLUNTARY DEPENDENT CARE FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT
ELIGIBILTY
All employees are eligible to enroll in the Voluntary Dependent Care FSA, regardless of if you
are enrolled in a medical insurance plan. This benefit is administered through the P&A Group.
CONTRIBUTIONS
An employee can contribute to the Voluntary Dependent Care FSA on a pre-tax basis. Cary
does not contribute to this account. The Voluntary Dependent Care FSA is a separate
benefit from Cary's $3,500 Lifestyle Spending Account for those eligible for the benefit.
MAXIMUM ELECTION AMOUNT
You can contribute up to $5,000 per year for the Voluntary Dependent Care FSA.
AVAILABLE FUNDS
The total amount you elected for the year is available as you contribute to the account per
pay period.
TYPES OF ELIGIBLE EXPENSES
The Voluntary Dependent Care FSA can be used for eligible dependent care expenses for a
child under age 13 who is considered a dependent for tax purposes, a child who is over age
13 but mentally or physically incapable of self-care, a spouse who is physically or mentally
unable to care for himself or herself or a parent who is unable to care for himself or herself
and qualifies as a dependent.
Eligible expenses include:
• Childcare centers that care for six or more children and that meet the IRS' definition of
a qualified day care center
• Caregivers for a disabled spouse or dependent who lives with the participant
• Eligible babysitting
• Nursery schools
