C A R Y L A Z Y D A Z E A R T S & C R A F T S F E S T I VA L • 2 0 2 4 2 Best of NC Award – Presented by Our State Magazine The 2024 Lazy Daze Award Winners will be announced on Saturday. New this year, the Best of NC Award will be presented to the North Carolina artist who receives the highest score from the Lazy Daze judges. In addition to this honor, the winning artist will receive an automatic invitation to participate in the Spring Daze Arts and Crafts Festival, held each April at Bond Park. This festival is a celebrated showcase featuring exclusively North Carolina-based artists. Jerry Miller Best in Show Awards A019 Nicholas Barnes, Wood A018 Hillary Burkett, Jewelry A030 J. Mark DeYoung, Jewelry E522 Katie Hayes, Printmaking C300 Bob Schamerhorn, Photography In 2001, the Jerry Miller Awards were introduced to celebrate the 25th annual Lazy Daze Festival and honor its founder, Jerry Miller. Each year, this prestigious accolade is bestowed upon seven exceptional artists. Award winners receive automatic invitations to participate in the following year's festival, along with a waiver of all festival fees for that year. The returning 2023 Jerry Miller Award winners are: Oyez! Oyez! – Cary's Town Crier at Lazy Daze Cary's official Town Crier, John Webster, and his wife, Mary Webster, are back at Lazy Daze for their 20th year! Hailing from Cary's sister city, Markham, Ontario, Canada, the Websters will be making announcements, greeting patrons, announcing the award winners, and adding a festive flair to the event. You can easily spot them in the crowd, fully dressed in their traditional Town Crier regalia.
