C A R Y L A Z Y D A Z E A R T S & C R A F T S F E S T I VA L • 2 0 2 5 2 Best of NC Award – Presented by Our State Magazine Now in its second year, the Best of NC Award is presented to the highest-scoring North Carolina-based artist, as determined by the Lazy Daze jury. In addition to this recognition, the winner receives an automatic invitation to participate in the Spring Daze Arts & Crafts Festival—an annual celebration of North Carolina artists held each April at Bond Park. The 2025 Lazy Daze Award Winners will be announced on Saturday. Jerry Miller Best in Show Awards Established in 2001 to mark the festival's 25th anniversary, the Jerry Miller Awards recognize the exceptional talent and artistry that Jerry so passionately championed. Each year, seven artists are selected for this distinguished honor. Recipients are awarded automatic invitations to return to the following year's festival, with all festival fees waived. The returning 2024 Jerry Miller Award winners are: A004 Blake Gore, Drawing A022 Patty Pun, Fiber/Leather A042/A043 Cliff Garren, Mixed Media A053/A054 Chaz Lamb, Metal A065 Jennifer Domal, Folk/Indigenous Art D416/D417 Dustin Headrick, Mixed Media E568 Val Taylor, Drawing Oyez! Oyez! – Cary's Town Crier at Lazy Daze Cary's official Town Crier, John Webster, and his wife, Mary Webster, return for this year's Lazy Daze! Hailing from Cary's sister city, Markham, Ontario, Canada, the Websters will be making announcements, greeting patrons, announcing the award winners, and adding a festive flair to the event. You can easily spot them in the crowd, fully dressed in their traditional Town Crier regalia. Honoring Jerry Miller 1932 – 2025 This year, we remember and celebrate the life of Jerry Miller, founder of the Lazy Daze Arts & Crafts Festival. Jerry's vision and dedication helped shape Lazy Daze into one of the most beloved and enduring arts festivals in the Southeast. His commitment to community, creativity, and craft lives on in every tent, booth, and brushstroke. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy will continue to inspire generations of artists and festivalgoers. As we reflect on his legacy, help us build a mosaic of Lazy Daze memories, the kind of moments Jerry treasured. Visit the Lazy Daze Legacy Booth inside Town Hall to share your story.
