Civil War Experience: A Soldier's Life (age 12-17) Experience a soldier's life during a time of great turmoil in American history. Focus will be on the life of a typical North Carolina infantry soldier, including uniforms, weapons, equipment, camp life, rations, drill techniques, officer and NCO responsibilities, and more. Great for any youth interested in the Civil War or regional history! Field trip and musket firing included. Learn how to create a basic railroad layout with emphasis on HO and N gauge scale trains. The camp covers hands-on scenery making, overall design, and construction. Field trips to a local hobby shop and Cary's depot will round out the experience. A basic N gauge set for each camper to keep is included. Games include various popular strategy games in addition to various card games. This camp can be combined with Traditional Lawn Games to create a full-day camp (except for the Jul 14-18 camps).
