Many of our Ceramic Arts courses require a prerequisite, which is generally noted at the end of a course description. The prerequisite requirement is placed on those courses in which the student must have completed the basic or beginning course to participate. A prerequisite makes certain all participants in the advanced or intermediate level courses have the minimum skill level needed to participate to the fullest in the course. It also eliminates the need for the instructor to reteach the basics. Please contact Cary Arts Center staff for more information. Courses filling most of the prerequisites in Ceramic Arts must have been taken at Jordan Hall Arts Center or Cary Arts Center. They are as follows: Pottery Foundations, Pottery Basics, Pottery Handbuilding Techniques, Pottery Handbuilding Basics, Open Studio Orientation: Handbuilding & Wheel. The exception is Raku Firing for which the prerequisite is Raku: Pots Afire. Exploring Handmade Book Techniques ARTS All courses are held at Cary Arts Center unless otherwise noted. ARTS
