Location: Lobby North Carolina Zoo Enjoy a trip to the North Carolina Zoo, located in Asheboro, North Carolina. At 1,371 acres, it is one of the largest "walk-through" natural-habitat zoos in the world, the first in the United States, and only one of two state-owned zoos in the United States. First we will enjoy lunch at a local favorite 'Some - thing Different Restaurant', followed by an after- noon at the zoo. Explore with friends or on your own over 250 species and over 1100 animals pri- marily representing Africa and North America. This trip will involve extensive walking, but at your own pace and tram rides throughout the park are avail- able. Trip fee includes tickets and transportation, lunch and gift purchases are on your own. Please register by May 27. Learn the story of Jor- dan Lake: its wildlife ecology, history, environmen- tal impact from humans, engineering aspects, and the vital role the lake plays in the Triangle. You will enjoy a thought-provoking, well-researched, en- tertaining presentation along with delicious appe- tizers and drinks provided by Triangle Boat Tours. Please register by July 10. Fees: $35(R) $46(N) (per person) 74987 Wed Jul 16 7:30-11:15 a.m. Segway Adventures Join us for a memorable sightseeing adventure on this narrated glide that's infused with information about Raleigh's fascinating past. This hour and a half tour focuses on the Oakwood Historic Dis- trict, a pretty downtown neighborhood filled with restored 19th-century homes in a variety of archi- tectural styles. See where prominent city founders once lived and tour through the rolling, park-like grounds of historic Oakwood Cemetery. A seg- way is a two wheel self balancing battery powered vehicle that does not require any special skill. No previous experience is necessary as a short train- ing will take place before the tour. You must weigh between 100-260 lbs. and must be able to stand in place for an hour and a half. Lunch is not included in trip fee but will be at a local Raleigh restaurant. Trip fee includes: Transportation, guided tour, hel - met and wireless audio pack so you can easily hear your guides live narration. If inclement weather, trip will be rescheduled. Moderate Walking.
