The Town of Cary maintains 58 courts at five locations: Annie Jones Park, Dunham Park, God- bold Park, Middle Creek School/Park, and the Cary Tennis Park. Four courts are 36' for the eight and under play format and 54 courts are 78'. In addi- tion, 20 courts have been lined for the ten and un- der 60' play format. The Town's main tennis facility is the Cary Tennis Park, which is the state's largest public outdoor tennis facility. The park is a full service facility on approximately 24 acres in western Cary. Ameni- ties include locker rooms with showers, meeting room, snack bar and clubhouse. The park pro- vides a comprehensive array of tennis programs, events and services for beginner through advanced players. Since opening, the Cary Tennis Park has expanded the tennis offerings in the community to include private lessons, group clinics and league play. The Cary Tennis Park is host to several national, regional and state tournaments including the Bullfrog USTA Southern Section Designated, NC Junior Closed State Tournament, Boys and Girls 14 USTA Na- tional Zone Team Championships, the Men's and Women's ACC Championships and the Western Wake Charity Event to benefit Hospice hosted with the Western Wake Tennis Association. Player Development Program The Cary Tennis Park is a national leader in the area of tennis player development. The Tennis Park staff has created a comprehensive pathway for children of all ages and abilities which pro- vide the necessary skills, introducing them to an active lifestyle through the sport of tennis. The Cary Tennis Park Player Development Program emphasizes competition and training formats tailored to the age of the child. Each of the classes listed in this section will incorporate the following four components: • Independent racquet and ball coordination; participants will work individually on eye hand coordination skills • Cooperative training; participants will work together to develop basic rally skills • Technical skill development; fundamental stroke development, and footwork skills will be taught • Interactive games and play Introduce your child to the exciting world of tennis by signing up today!!
