The most influential period of American music, the early 1900s witnessed the first published blues, the ex - plosion of ragtime, and the birth of jazz. Tea Cup Gin's mix of jazz standards and their own original songs provides audiences with re- membrances of old plus an appreciation for the new. Kim Wempe Saturday, September 20 | 7 p.m.| Free A powerful performer with smoky vocals and an undeniable stage presence, Kim Wempe has been tearing up highways and stomping her way across every stage in the country for the past four years. Influenced by the rich sounds of classic rock, groovy vibrations of funk, the soulful down home blues, pop, and even a little bit of country. Seven O'Clock Rock Series Take time to strut your stuff on the streets of Cary! A block party experience in Downtown Cary will find the streets closed off, mer- chants open late, good food cooking, and the opportunity to enjoy great music with friends and neighbors. Dance lessons are offered prior to the start of the concert so you can cut a rug in the street! All performances are free and take place at the intersection of Academy Street and Chatham Street. The band is a very energetic group that has years of musical experience. There is no slack time in their sets; everything is energy from the first song to the last. Free dance lesson at 7 p.m., and con- cert at 7:30 p.m. Swing Night with The Gregg Gelb Swing Band Friday, October 3 | 7 p.m. | Free Since 1989, Gregg Gelb and his BIG sounding band of eight, has played to the enjoyment of concert, dance and school audi- ences throughout North Carolina. Saxophonist, clarinetist and ar- ranger, Gregg Gelb leads this unique group that features the swing- ing vocalist, Kathy Gelb.
