(919) 469-4061 www.townofcary.org 85 OUTDOOR RECREATION Outdoor Recreation Boating Skills & Seamanship (age 14 & up) Presented by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, this course applies to new boat owners and experienced boaters wanting to expand their knowledge. Topics include nautical language, types of boats, pow- erboat handling, safety and legal requirements, navigation rules, in- land boating, and more. Location: Bond Park Community Center Instructor: Ronald Sanders, Member of the Cary Flotilla of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Fees: $55 payable to the instructor at first class (10 classes) 79040 Mon Sep 22-Nov 24 7-9:30 p.m. BONd LAkE ACTIVITIES Fishing Fishing opportunities are available year-round at Bond Lake. There is no charge to fish from shore. All NC fishing regulations apply. North Carolina requires anyone 16 or older to have a fishing license. For additional information concerning size and creel limits or to pur- chase a license visit the NC Wildlife Resources Commission website at www.ncwildlife.org. Hook, Line and Sinker (age 6 & up) FREE Bring your own fishing pole and we will teach you the basics of fish- ing. We will teach you how to set up the pole, bait the hook, cast, fish, safety and conservation. Bait is provided while supplies last. All youth participants are required to have a parent registered and present. Pre-registration is necessary. For more, call (919) 469-4100. Location: Fred G. Bond Metro Park, Boathouse 79138 Sat Sep 20 9 a.m.-noon Sailing (age 13 & up) Learn to sail in one day. You will learn how to rig the boat, launch and land, sail at all points to the wind and right the boat after cap- size – everything you need to know to competently sail a Sunfish sailboat. Sailboat rental is included. Location: Fred G. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied on the boat by an adult and wear a personal flotation device (PFD). All partici- pants renting sailboats, canoes or kayaks must wear a PFD at all times.
