Day Trips/Arts & Crafts 6 September–December 2014 Cary Senior Center Mountain Top Adventure You will step back to a simpler time when you visit Mount Airy, NC. Actor Andy Griffith grew up here, and it's no coincidence that a stroll down Mount Airy's Main Street reminds people of the town of Mayberry from The Andy Griffith Show. Enjoy a guided tour by bus of Mount Airy as we visit places such as Floyd's Barber Shop, and other unique sites. You will also learn more about North Caro - lina's great wineries when we visit and tour the Old North State Winery and Shelton Vineyards. Lunch will be on your own in Downtown Mount Airy. Cost includes transportation, wine tasting and tour fees fees. Lunch and gratuities are on your own. Re - serve your spot by October 29. Journey back in time when North Carolina was still a British colony! Enjoy a trolley ride around New Bern followed by lunch at Bakers Kitchen and free time to explore the downtown shops. Experience Christmas in the 1770s by taking a self guided tour through Tryon Palace. Costumed Narrators located throughout the property will complete your historical experi - ence. In Clothes we Remember During the Fall of 2014, participants will be invited to take part in a community art project involving cloth, printing, sewing, clothing, and memories. Be a part of this incredible art project by signing up today! Meet Artist Jan-Ru Wan Celebrating clothing and memories, learn about Jan-Ru Wan's project entitled "Up Close and Personal" at the Chapel Hill Senior Center, which utilizes re-purposed clothes to tell stories. Learn more about their project and the project we are kicking off this Fall with Jan-Ru! Location: Classroom 302 77588 Fri Aug 29 10:30 a.m.-noon Hands on Fabric Workshops Each meeting we will screen print, em- broider and embellish the clothing squares with stories and love. Then Jan-Ru will sew all of the panels together to form a commu- nity quilt to be presented in April as our very own Community Art Project! No sewing experience required; however willingness to learn expected! What to bring to the first class will print on your receipt at registration. You will receive a confirmation/receipt, which you may keep as a reminder, after registering. Please record your course registrations on your calendar because we cannot guarantee a reminder call for each program. Don't Wait Please register early. Early registration allows us time to plan appropriately. Oftentimes we are able to accommodate those on waiting lists by adding additional spots to the class or adding additional classes. Classes that do not meet their minimum enrollment are generally cancelled. You could make the difference.
