The pieces are from a body of work utilizing designs Jean Cheely creates with various flow techniques. Her works represent that nothing in nature is static. March Wake County Senior Games Exhibit Opens Wednesday, March 25–April 17 Artist Reception & Awards Ceremony, April 17 at 10 a.m. Medium: Mixed The Cary Senior Center is pleased to host the Wake County Senior Games SilverArts Competition. Over 50 local artists ages 55+ will be represented and compete for awards. Registration for this art show will end in February. JJ Raia: Jordan Lake Bond Park Community Center Sunday, March 1–Thursday, April 30 Artist Reception: Friday, March 27 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Photography Although Jordan Lake is the destination for so many diverse activities, its beauty and serenity can be overlooked when engaged in those activities. The lake and its surroundings, so close to so many neighborhoods, offer a quiet, peaceful sanctuary that can soothe the soul and calm the spirit. I hope the images included here illustrate those feelings as well as bring a bit of insight into its character. Object as Subject: Tom Shields Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, January 27–Saturday, March 22 Artist Reception: Friday, January 30 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Mixed media Tom Shields takes discarded furniture and alters it to make people see what they are overlooking, as well as the disposable culture they are contributing to. He is also asking them to consider the form as a subject full of its own content, and place themselves into the narratives he is creating. This show will feature two-dimensional art by local residents over the age of 55. ART55 will be limited to the first 55 works delivered to the Cary Senior Center on Monday, February 23 from 3-5 p.m. Entry fee will be $15 per item (only one item per artist).
