In Clothes We Remember: Cary's Artist Residency with artist Jan–Ru Wan Principal's Hall Cary Arts Center Community Celebration and unveiling Friday, April 24 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Textiles, mixed media, and video Artist Jan-Ru Wan's unveils the new artwork created over the past six months from Cary participants cloth/clothing and their stories/memories. Teen Council members created a documentary about the process and this video will be premiered as well as Re-Fashion Show by students from Cary Arts Center classes who have repurposed clothing to create new fashions. Granpaparazzi Photography Club Exhibition Cary Senior Center Tuesday, April 21–Friday, May 22 Artist Reception: Friday, April 24 | 5–7 p.m. Medium: Photography Granpaparazzi Photography Club was formed in the spring of 2011 as a collection of avid photographers and those wanting to learn more about their cameras, specifically digital cameras. This is the third exhibition of the Granpaparazzi Photography Club and we look forward to many more! For more about the club, join the group on the 4th Thursday of each month from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in classroom 302. Bring your camera! Wade Carmichael: Koi Reflections 2015 Town Hall Gallery Friday, March 27–Tuesday, May 26 Artist Reception: Friday, March 27 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Colored pencil and wax paintings "Koi Reflections" is a body of work exploring the challenge of combining abstract elements in representative imagery. Their movement, form and color provide seemingly endless possibilities of image development. The positive 'Feng Shui' of the Koi image can be both powerful and peaceful. Heath Clayton: Wilderness Matters Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, March 27–Saturday, May 1 Artist Reception: Friday, April 24 | 6–8 p.m. Gallery Talk: Friday, April 24 | 6:30 p.m. Medium: Photography with journal entries "But I know this as well as Muir knew it a hundred years ago: mankind needs wilderness. We need it to challenge us, to periodically strip away the facades we build and remind us if who we are, where we came from, and what is important in our lives." Experience 211 miles of the High Sierras along the John Muir Trail through Heath Clayton's photography and journal. Marilyn Bass: Botanical Paper Sculpture Herb Young Community Center Gallery Friday, March 27–Tuesday, May 26 Artist Reception: Friday, March 27 | 6–8 p.m. Medium: Paper and colored pencil This Botanical show will feature delicately colored pencil drawings that are then painstakingly cut into artworks creating a 3-dimensional artwork.
