Basic and more advanced techniques covered will be: glazing, seeing and using values, lowering and raising color intensity, underpaintings, color mixing, giving objects volume, creating atmospheric perspective, and much more. Learn the basic techniques of blending colors that will help you create beautiful, vibrant paintings. Previous drawing class or experience is helpful. Supply list provided on receipt. Each class will introduce a different technique: washes, wet into wet for fabulous clouds; dry brushing for fabulous foliage; using photos; types of paper and their uses, plus more! More color mixing and nitty gritty techniques will be explored. There is an assortment of short classes to choose from. Supply list provided on receipt. Geared towards beginners and intermediates. 83003 Tue Feb 17–Mar 3 9:30 a.m.-noon • LANDSCAPES Using the instructor's (or student's) photos, participants will learn to translate the images into nice paintings. Some painting experience recommended. 83004 Tue Mar 10–24 9:30 a.m.-noon • SPRING FLOWERS IN POTS Learn techniques for painting different flowers, leaves, pottery or flower pots, ribbons, and moss. Some painting experience recommended. 83005 Tue Mar 31–Apr 14 9:30 a.m.-noon • COLOR MIXING Whether painting in watercolors, oil, or acrylics, this class is a must for making sense out of mixing colors. For beginners or intermediate students. 83009 Tue Apr 21–May 5 9:30 a.m.-noon • MAKING GLASS LOOK LIKE GLASS Using the instructor's reference material, students will learn how to make glass look transparent, shaped, shadowed, and realistic. Some painting experience is recommended. 83010 Tue May 12–26 9:30 a.m.-noon Introductory Watercolor (age 16 & up) Take a close look at the unique qualities of watercolor and receive a thorough presentation of the basics including set-up, brush handling, washes and glazes, color-mixing, and wet-on-dry, wet-on-wet and dry-brush applications. Demonstrations and hands-on painting experiences provided. Open to beginners or anyone wanting a refresher. Supply list provided.
