Share ideas and create items such as dishcloths, afghans, mittens and caps, which would make wonderful gifts. Help will be provided as needed. Meetings take place January 20 through May 26. Location: Classroom 303 80579 Every Tue 12:30- 1:50 p.m. PAINTING Classical Painting Techniques This is a comprehensive WATER BASED OILS ONLY class with an academic approach where you can paint a portrait, an animal, a still life or a landscape using the classical techniques of the old master painters. This involves learning to scale a small photo to a larger canvas using a different type of grid for a true likeness. Also, this class includes mixing and applying an under painting using a 10 value scale; and a flesh palette similar to those used by Vermeer and the Old Masters. Learn to paint backgrounds, composition, clothing with folds, glazing techniques and much more. First- time portrait students will copy an old master painting in order to best learn the procedure, students can select from instructors photos or you may bring in an 8x10 copy of an original photo. Please bring all supplies to first class. Painting Flowers and Still Life You will have the opportunities to paint your flowers or still life either by using an underpainting to produce a more realistic look or by painting in a loose manner. All levels are welcome as beginner and advanced techniques will be discussed. Composition, color mixing, giving objects volume and much more will be covered. You must have all your supplies in order to take this class. Location: Classroom 306 Instructor: Marcelle Hooks Fees: $50(R) $65(N) (5 classes) 82016 Tue Mar 24-Apr 21 9:30 a.m.-noon 82017 Wed Mar 25-Apr 22 1- 3:30 p.m. Painting Landscapes The focus of this class will be on painting light in your landscapes by using values and chroma (intensity color). You will use acrylic or water soluble oil to paint. Gain the techniques to give distance to your landscapes that will pull the view into the painting and much more. You must have your supplies in order to take this class.
