Weekday Teen Art The Art of Calligraphy (age 11–16) Let's keep handwriting from becoming extinct! Learn new hand lettering styles with an introduction to the tools of calligraphy: India ink, dip pen and nibs. Explore ways to apply decorative lettering to note cards, bookmarks, magnets and more. Tools, ink, and decorative paper included; additional supplies provided on receipt. Students may choose to make a pendent, pair of earrings, a fashion pin or other jewelry accessories. Copper pieces fired during workshop. Beginners and returning students welcome. Copper pieces can be purchased from the Cary Arts Center. Combine wet and dry media to create an original work of art. Study the elements of art and view works by other artists for inspiration. Supply list provided on receipt. A variety of graphite, charcoal, and pastel materials will be used to complete creative exercises to increase your drawing confidence. No experience needed, just bring a sketchbook.
