GALLERY EXHIBITIONS 12 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org PART ONE SELECTIONS FROM THE SAS COLLECTION Selections from the SAS Collection: Holly Brewster Jones & Juliana Novozhilova Cary Arts Center Gallery Friday, June 5-Monday, July 20 Artist Reception: Friday, June 26 | 6-8 p.m. Medium: Paintings (Mixed Media) This show introduces a variety of paintings from the SAS Collection by two exceptionally talented artists on the SAS staff: Holly Brewster Jones, a longtime water color artist who helped establish the North Carolina Water Color Society and whom was instrumental in guiding the collection's early vision; and artist Juliana Novozhilova, who has dedicated her skills to creating beautiful paintings and interiors as well as sharing the collection with employees and guests. Fabrizio Bianchi: Paintagonia Cary Senior Center Tuesday, May 26-Friday June 22 Artist Reception: Friday, May 29 | 6-8 p.m. Media: Mixed Media Fabrizio Bianchi's latest series is best described as a palimpsest journal celebrating the urban landscapes of North America and Latin America through faded images of street art, advertisements, and childhood icons. The broken and semi-transparent images utilized in each painting represent mental Polaroids of faded displays and posters stylized with bright flashes of logos, lettering, and comic book characters. These textural time capsules reveal a beautiful morphing world undergoing a gradual state of urban decay and deconstruction over years of exposure to the natural elements and mass media. Out of the Flames: Ceramics by Andi Dees Page-Walker Arts & History Center Tuesday, June 23-Sunday, August 16 Artist Reception: Friday, June 26 | 6-8 p.m. Potter Andi Dees reveals new works exploring the wood- firing process. All work was fired in a three-chambered wood kiln, offering three different results in one firing. With any atmospheric firing, results vary due to the addition of salt, the flow of ash, and the path of the flame, each creating a finish that is one of a kind.
