Project PHOENIX Century Tryon Place and Meridian at Harrison Point join 42 other Project PHOENIX communities. Welcome! During the first quarter of 2015, Project PHOENIX hosted 24 events. For one event, Project PHOENIX partnered with Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources, as well as SPRUCE, Cary Christian School, local churches and residents to hold a record- setting cleanup in the Wrenn Drive and Nottingham Drive neighborhoods.Volunteers collected 3,145 pounds of litter! Traffic Safety Team 1st Quarter Statistics 948 crash investigations 4 DWI check-points 66 DWI related charges 20 drug charges 92 physical arrests 2,110 traffic stops Community Services Unit (CSU) The CSU provides daily services such as child safety talks, home security assessments, and organization of community watch meetings. CSU also assists with community safety requests across the Town. The increase in community outreach and security assessment activities is a result of the outreach efforts of CSU following various crime trends. Congratulations to Officer Grant Anderson for successfully completing the Radar Instructor School! This will allow future classes to be taught in-house, resulting in savings for the department. Fire Department Activity by Type In the first quarter, EMS calls increased 17% and Rescue calls increased 39% compared to the same period in 2014, while Fire calls decreased 13% and HazMat calls decreased 23% over the same period in 2014. The value of property exposed to a fire related condition was $38,313,612 with a loss of $257,950, which is a save rate greater than 99%
