54 September-December 2015 Cary Senior Center Volunteer Opportunities A Volunteer Opportunities Fall 2015 Season Volunteer List If you are interested in donating some of your time to help the Cary Senior Center then register for this program. By registering for this program you will be added to a volunteer call list for the 2014 Fall season. When different volunteer opportunities arise we then contact those on the list for help.Remember this list only lasts for one season so make sure you register each brochure if you want to remain on the call list. 86546 September-December Call List NEW VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION This meeting is for those who have never volunteered for the center. During this time you will learn what volunteer opportunities take place here and how the call list works. Location: Conference Room 86545 Wed Sep 2 11 a.m.-noon Volunteer Sewing Group Volunteers sew, knit and crochet a variety of dolls, quilts, and other goodies to be donated to local hospitals and care centers! More volunteers are always welcome, please join us in giving. Donations of clean acrylic yarns, cotton cloth and other items are needed. Please check with the Cary Senior Center front desk for details by calling (919) 469-4081. Location: Ballroom 86548 Every Monday 9-11:30 a.m. (no meeting 9/7) Warm Up America Grab your knitting needles, scrap yarn and warm heart! Help knit and crochet warm blankets that will be donated to a variety of charities in the area. Your self-expression provides warmth and hope for so many. Some yarn will be provided; donations accepted. Location: Conference Room 86547 3 rd Thursday Monthly 1- 4 p.m. Santa Project Calling all Santa's elves! The Town of Cary is in dire need of several kind hearted elves to do some of Santa's work. Right after Thanksgiving, children will be dropping off their letter to Santa at Town Hall. Santa has given us permission to help return letters to the good little children of Cary—but we need your help! Join us for this special project by signing up for an orientation meeting. Location: Classroom 302 86550 Mon Nov 30 2- 3 p.m. Be a Santa to a Senior ® The Cary Senior Center is partnering with Home Instead Senior Care ® to provide you the opportunity to help a local senior! Be a Santa to a Senior ® is similar to the Angle Tree Children's program. The difference is that the gifts are for the elderly who are either struggling financially, are homebound, live alone or are alone for the holidays. How Does It Work? 1) Stop by the Cary Senior Center and select a Senior tree ornament off the tree in the lobby. 2) Purchase item(s) listed. 3) Bring ornament and labeled unwrapped gifts back to the Cary Senior Center by/before Monday, December 14. BE A SANTA TO A SENIOR ® —WRAPPING PARTY After all the gifts have been donated we need your help with wrapping! Join us as we listen to cheerful holiday music, sip hot coffee and get in the holiday spirit! Please bring scissors. Location: Ballroom 86551 Tue Dec 15 9:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
