The Railsplitters and The Barefoot Movement Saturday, September 26 | 7:30pm Kicking off the 2015-16 Marvelous Music season and leading into IBMA's World of Bluegrass week in Raleigh, are two emerging bluegrass bands, The Railsplitters and The Barefoot Movement. From their home in the Colorado Rockies, The Railsplitters have been scaling new heights with a refreshing and enticing range of bluegrass and beyond- bluegrass music. Their sound draws influences from all the greats—Bill Monroe and Earl Scruggs to modern groups like Uncle Earl and Crooked Still, with rapid tempos, remarkable instrumentals, powerful vocals, and enchanting harmonies! Similarly, The Barefoot Movement is a captivating four-piece acoustic band that takes listeners back to a simpler place and time. More info: www.therailsplitters.com & www. barefoot-movement.com Shana Tucker Friday, November 6 | 7:30pm Shana Tucker is a distinctive cellist and singer/ songwriter whose classical training and jazz roots are interwoven with influences from pop music of the 80s and 90s, world music, and film soundtracks. Her work as an arranger/ composer and member of the string trio Hue has brought accolades and commissions for works performed at the Kennedy Center, the Joyce Theatre in New York, and the Witts Theater in Johannesburg. Ms. Tucker balances mainstage performances in listening rooms, theatres, and festivals throughout the country, along with her continuing role as cellist and mezzo-soprano in Cirque du Soleil's, KÀ in Las Vegas.
