SPORTS 88 REGISTER ONLINE: classweb.townofcary.org PART TWO S ports for girls and boys emphasize sportsmanship, skill development, participation for all players, and "fun." The season begins with practices in December and games begin in January. All players age 11–18 are required to attend a skills review session prior to the season. By popular demand, the Town of Cary is moving from Town-wide organization of youth basketball leagues to a zone-based organization of those leagues. The goal is to permit participants to practice and play games more frequently at locations closer to their home. • The Town will be divided into a West Zone, a Central Zone, and a South Zone. The gyms located in each of those zones can be found on the map. • Every age group/league will be offered in each of the three zones. Individuals may register in whichever zone they choose, and are not required to register in a particular zone based on their home address. Each course code corresponds not only to an age group, but also to a particular zone. When registering, please be sure you are using the course code that corresponds to the gym locations at which you wish to practice and play most often. • In most age groups, teams will have most or all of their practices in the zone in which they are registered. • In most age groups, teams will have half or more of their games in the zone in which they are registered. • In the age groups with the largest registration numbers, teams may have most or all of their games in the zone in which they are registered. • In the age groups with the smallest registration numbers, leagues or even teams may be created from multiple zones, and practices and games may take place in multiple zones. • Each team's roster will be made up of players from within the same zone. The only exception would be if a zone does not have enough registrants in an age group to create a full team. • No players will return to the same team as last year. For this season only, all teams will be created "from scratch." • We know this change may come with a lot of questions and we are here to help. For more information, refer to the Winter Basketball FAQ at http://bit.ly/1q09tkU. If you still need further assistance, please call us at (919) 469-4061.
