Now Online – New Western Wake Regional
Wastewater Management Facilities
The new Western Wake Regional Wastewater Management Facilities
(WWRWMF) began operation on July 28, 2014. The facility uses
advanced monitoring and controls to treat wastewater. Treated water is
discharged to the Cape Fear River downstream of the Buckhorn Dam
and has some of the lowest nitrogen and phosphorus discharge levels in
the state. The WWRWMF is operated by a highly trained staff of certified
wastewater treatment professionals dedicated to ensuring we lead the
state in preserving and protecting the environment by meeting or
surpassing all federal requirements in treating wastewater to a high
quality.
